Knitwear Donations

Fundación Tzedaká manages a network of Knitting Workshops that gather volunteers who knit warm garments for children at risk around the country. Most of the wool used comes from donations made by wool manufacturers or from purchases made with money raised at events organized by the Workshops themselves.

Additionally, once a year, our Foundation hosts a meeting for its Solidarity Knitters, a group that grows steadily as independent knitters or workshops outside the network join in. Many school children have also joined our knitters, learning to knit and helping to prepare the garments to be shipped to their end users. In short, this annual meeting is a wonderful solidarity experience enjoyed by several generations.

Our Foundation has traditionally networked with other organizations that share its mission. Our volunteers go to some locations in Buenos Aires City and the Greater Buenos Aires Area to deliver the knitted garments to children. For deliveries in places that we cannot reach directly, we rely on our partner organizations.

Over 10,000 garments have already been donated. This means that thousands of children wear warm clothes knitted by these grandmothers, aunts, mothers, and siblings from far away who make something special for them. Some of the organizations that have received our knitwear donations include Fundación el Pobre de Asís, Asociación Civil Pequeños Pasos, Comedor María Eva, Hogar Nueva Vida, Hogar Mamá Margarita, Casa de la Cultura de la Calle, Iglesia San Benito, Conduciendo a Conciencia, and Salta Teje y Abriga, among others.
